Who Are We?

Homeschool Central’s mission is to equip families with everything they need to successfully homeschool their children regardless of budget constraints. We are buying and selling gently used curriculum and literature as well as providing a 500+ sq.ft. classroom space for classes, events, and parties. But we are so much more than just a store. We are a doorway for families to access their choice of education for their children in an affordable way. YOU CAN homeschool and we can help!

 

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

Homeschool Central is Little Rock’s resource for discount homeschool supplies and learning toys. We buy and sell gently used curriculum, literature and supplies from the public. We are here for you on your homeschooling journey. Let us know how we can help!

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

You bring in the merchandise you want to trade and or sell. We’ll check in up to FOUR (4) medium size (think file box size. If you can’t lift it, it’s too big) boxes per adult (18+). We will calculate a price we can sell the merchandise and give you a percent of that in trade credit or store credit. We offer cash for most items, but not all. Due to the quantities we are buying, we are unable to provide an individualized list of prices per item.

WHAT ITEMS DO YOU ACCEPT?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Homeschool Curriculum
  • Non-Fiction Books 
  • Fiction Books **NOT BUYING CURRENTLY**
  • Children’s Books **NOT BUYING CURRENTLY**
  • Literature and Classics **NOT BUYING CURRENTLY**
  • Educational Digital Video Discs (DVDs)
  • Audio Books on Compact Discs (CDs)
  • Classical or Educational Music CDs
  • Board Games
  • Wooden Children’s Puzzles (With low piece counts)
  • Manipulatives in Original Packaging
  • Flashcards in original packaging or rubber banded together

DO YOU PAY CASH FOR EVERYTHING?

Some items that have a low resale value will be offered store credit instead of cash.

Items We Are Paying Store Credit For:

  • Low demand paperback fiction and non-fiction
  • Low demand paperback children’s literature
  • Basic Coloring Books
  • Curriculum that is more than 20 years old
  • Flashcard sets
  • Small manipulative sets
  • Puzzles and Games
  • Miscellaneous Small Supplies

Items We Are Paying Cash For:

  • Gently Used Homeschool Curriculum
  • Hardback Fiction and Non-fiction in good condition
  • Classics in good condition
  • Items that are brand new and still in packaging, but not out of date.

We must scan your valid state issued ID containing full name, address, and photograph in order to issue any cash or check amount. You must be 18 or older to receive cash or a check. Any amount over $30 will be issued in the form of a check. No exceptions will be made.

 

IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MUCH I CAN BRING IN?

We would love to be able to accept an unlimited amount of items from all of our customers, but due to the large quantity of merchandise that we sort through, we must limit your items to 4 medium size boxes. (Think file box size. If you can’t lift it when it’s full of books, it’s too big) At most, we can check-in 4  medium boxes, per group, per day.

Orders over 4 boxes per group may be submitted as “Large Orders”. “Large Orders” may be submitted if space allows, and can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks to process. Please email orders@hscentralbooks.com or call for information regarding the “Large Order” process, as it differs from our normal procedures. 

CAN I LEAVE AND COME BACK WHILE YOU WORK ON MY ORDER?

We do our best to get small orders processed while you shop, but sometimes that’s just not feasible. When you bring in merchandise, you have up to three business days from when you receive your cash/store credit offer to pick up any items that we cannot accept and up to three (3) business days to claim any trade and/or cash(check). We are unable to hold any items after 3 business days due to the volume of merchandise we process.

IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOU JUST DON’T TAKE AT ALL?

Yes, there are certain items that, for one reason or another, we just can’t sell. Those items include, but are not limited to:

  • BJU Distance Learning Parent & Student Guides (copyright prevents resell)
  • Abeka Video Lesson Guides (copyright prevents resell)
  • Consumable books with writing on the inside.
  • Books with badly damaged covers or spines
  • Books with missing pages
  • Loose papers (If you have a complete test packet that is loose, please put it in a gallon ziplock or use a binder clip.)
  • Music and Movies without an original case
  • Wet or water damaged items
  • We will not accept anything from orders that contain live bugs.
  • Encyclopedias sets
  • Time-Life Sets
  • Dictionaries and thesauruses. (exception for children’s dictionaries with pictures or foreign language)
  • VHS
  • Cassette tapes
  • Computer Games
  • CDs without cases
  • Games or puzzles that are missing pieces

HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU TAKE?

We will pay up to 40% of our selling price in trade credit depending on the type of item. Cashable items payout at up to 30% of our selling price, depending on the type of item – we do not pay cash for all items, see ‘Do You Pay Cash for Everything?’ section above.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO PROCESS MY ORDER?

Merchandise is processed in the order it is received. We try our best to have your order processed within the 3 business day window. During the summer buying season, the wait time may increase. The turn around time will vary based on how many orders have been checked in ahead of you and the type of merchandise you are submitting.

MY BOXES ARE REALLY HEAVY; CAN SOMEONE COME OUT TO MY CAR TO CARRY THEM IN FOR ME?

We will gladly provide you with a dolly to bring your boxes in from the parking lot. Unfortunately, we do not have staff available to bring in merchandise from outside the store, so please plan accordingly.

I DON’T HAVE THE CASES TO MY DISKS; CAN I STILL SELL THOSE TO YOU?

All disks must be in original cases.

WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We currently accept all major credit cards, and trade credit (as applicable), as payment. We do not accept $100 bills for sales under $75. Any charge sales of $75 or more will require a photo ID. NO CHECKS

CAN YOU HOLD A BOOK FOR ME?

We are unable to hold books for any reason. The best way for you to make sure a book you want is still in the store when you come to shop is to place an online order and choose "in store pickup" as your shipping method. We will hold these purchases behind the counter until you can pick them up.
